First of all, we need to know the material grade of the stainless steel. A green hand might think that there is no difference for stainless steel. Actually, there are many grades for stainless steel material.The most common stainless steel grade are 201, 304, 316 etc, which have different material content,performance and cost.
201 stainless steel has lower cost than others, it has relatively lower quality and rust-resistant performance.
 
304 stainless steel are more popular in the production of stainless steel fasteners with good rust-resistant performance and comprehensive mechanical properties.

Secondly, Go Gauge/No-Go Gauge test is necessary. The gauge test are widely used in the test of machine screws. Some factories may adopt non standard wires which has smaller diameter to produce the screws. Screws produced from this kind of material has same outer diameter as screws of standard material. While doing gauge test, they can pass go gauge test and will fail in No-go gauge test, which is not qualified actually.
 
Thirdly, it’s necessary to check whether there is visual defects and dimension defects. If the screws or bolts are used in project with strict requirement on the appearance, no visual defects are allowed to fulfill project needs. Dimensions also need to made to the drawing or requirements or they can not be properly installed or assembled in the application.
